InterLab - It's Your Future

PTCRB

Client: PTCRB is a consortium of network operators that determines the specification criteria for mobile terminals. Every manufacturer who wants to bring such a device on to the market must adhere to these requirements.

Project environment: PTCRB is charged with setting the basic conditions under which GERAN, UTRAN and E-UTRAN device certifications for PTRCB members have to be carried out. PTCRB is responsible for developing and setting the relevant standards. Additionally, the test specifications and methods necessary to carry through the certification process need to be communicated.

Objectives of using InterLab

  • The mass of information needs to be made easy to use
  • Information must be distributed and accessible irrespective of location
  • Change requests should be evaluated and – if applicable – implemented as quickly as possible
  • The system should be able to map the organization according to the roles of its members, and to configure access authorizations accordingly
  • Security of data and access authorizations must be assured

Challenge

  • As technology and the markets are advancing rapidly, requirements need to be transformed into standards and made accessible quickly. Updates are published approximately on a quarterly basis. Many experts are engaged in this task, resulting in significant expenditure for communication and coordination
  • Both the members who develop the standards and those who access the official certification criteria are spread around the world
  • The working content is extremely substantial and complex
  • Experts coming from companies that are in competition with each other have to work together in this system, so that secure data and information access is an essential requirement

Solution

  • PTCRB Test Case Database based on InterLab Certification-Line
  • A platform on which the development process and maintenance of standards can be carried out and managed
  • A platform that allows the provision of standards for the entire test industry (e.g. test system manufacturers, test houses, validation organizations, technical experts for the development of test specifications etc.)

Client benefits through use of InterLab

  • The entire process of developing, maintaining and providing a standard is mapped out completely in one system
  • Members can handle the mass of information more easily due to its clear structuring coupled with comprehensive filter functions
  • The system is web-based and therefore accessible worldwide
  • Up-to-date information is available to all member organizations in the entire test industry at all times
  • No installation needs to be carried out by the client, thus avoiding any installation expenditure. All that is needed for access is an internet browser and a valid user account
  • In addition to a publication platform, the system provides a communication tool for the development of the relevant standards. Automatic change notifications can be freely configured. At the same time, definable rules for coordination processes facilitate onward development of standards
  • Roles can be defined and adapted. These can form the basis for determining access authorizations for the system
  • The ability to configure the system extensively allows it to be flexibly adapted to the requirements of the organization and its processes
  • The user interface can be adapted to a specified corporate design
  • Captions on the user interface (e.g. naming of areas, boxes etc.) can be configured to suit specific industries
